Step Up, Speak Out: Free Active Bystander Training |
Ever witnessed a situation where someone was being treated unfairly and wished you knew how to help? Our FREE Active Bystander Training is designed to give you the confidence and tools to safely intervene and support others.
Picture this: you're on the tube, and you see someone being harassed. There are dozens of people around. Surely someone will help, right? But here's the thing, everyone's thinking the same thing. And that's the problem. This is called the bystander effect. It's a psychological phenomenon where the more people who witness an emergency or crime, the less likely anyone is to step in and help. Which sounds strange, youโd probably expect the opposite to be true. We know that given a chance, most people want to help. But we hold back, because we donโt know what to do, or how to do it safely.
Funded by City Bridge Foundation, Neighbourhood Watch has created bystander intervention training specifically for people living in and around London, so you can take action through safe and simple interventions. These workshops are available online and in-person across London boroughs including Lambeth, Hackney, and Croydon. ๐ง What Youโll Learn: ๐ Upcoming Online Sessions: ๐ In-Person Workshops: Running over the next six months in Lambeth, Hackney, and Croydon. ๐ Book your FREE place now: Letโs build safer, more supportive communities โ together.
